UAE Retailers: Fix Product Data for AI Shopping

Spangle’s AI Discovery shows where retail demand may be moving: shopping journeys led by ChatGPT, Perplexity and other assistants. UAE sellers should improve product data before buying another tool.

Spangle announced AI Discovery on 22 September 2026. The product is aimed at enterprise retailers competing for demand created by AI shopping experiences, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google, Amazon’s Alexa for Shopping and Walmart’s Sparky. Its stated job is to find customer demand a retailer may be able to win, decide whether action is commercially worthwhile, and measure the result. Read Spangle’s announcement.
This is different from checking whether a product is mentioned in an AI answer. Spangle says visibility alone does not show that a shopper will choose the retailer. Its system looks at signals including assortment, inventory, product fit and commercial opportunity, then connects activity to traffic, conversion, revenue per visit and attributed revenue.
For a UAE retailer, the useful lesson is simple: product information is becoming part of the sales conversation before a shopper reaches Amazon.ae, Noon or an independent store.
Being visible in an AI answer is not the same as being chosen by the customer.

The announcement says almost half of shoppers in an IBM-NRF study used AI in their buying journeys. The cited uses included researching products, interpreting reviews and finding deals. That does not prove that every UAE buyer is already shopping this way. It does show why a seller should treat AI discovery as a developing route to demand rather than a replacement for marketplace search.
The first practical question is whether the catalogue can answer a detailed buying request. A title such as “black handbag” gives an assistant little to work with. A useful product record is more specific about material, dimensions, colour, compatibility, use case, stock position, delivery promise, returns and meaningful differences between variants. These details should agree across the website, marketplace listings and internal stock records.
That is not a reason to rewrite every product description this week. It is a reason to choose a small group of commercially important products and check whether the data is complete, consistent and current. If the same product has different specifications or availability in different places, improving that foundation is likely to help ordinary shoppers too.
This approach also keeps the experiment separate from the purchase of an enterprise AI platform. Spangle says AI Discovery is intended for enterprise retailers and will be available from autumn 2026, with an eight-week AI Discovery Sprint as a possible starting point. A small UAE seller should not assume that an enterprise product is the correct first step.
The more immediate task may be catalogue hygiene: accurate product names, complete specifications, useful FAQs, current inventory and clear commercial terms. If the business sells on Amazon.ae or Noon, this UAE ecommerce setup guide covers the wider launch process, but it does not settle how an AI assistant will rank or recommend a product. That question remains platform-specific and changes quickly.
Do not measure success only by impressions or mentions. Spangle describes a loop that connects visibility with traffic, conversion and revenue. A UAE owner can use the same discipline without copying the software: record the products tested, the questions targeted, the changes made and the commercial result.
A useful worked example is a seller with one strong product line but inconsistent listings. The owner selects 15 products, standardises the specifications, checks stock information and adds answers to the main buying questions. The owner then compares product-page visits, add-to-cart activity and sales with the earlier period. If nothing improves, the sensible conclusion may be that the problem is price, delivery, reviews, assortment or demand, not a lack of AI wording.
That is where digital marketing and SEO support may help, but only after the business knows what it is trying to improve. AI discovery is not a shortcut around weak products, unreliable stock or poor fulfilment.
Paknology has a commercial interest if this work leads to an ecommerce launch, a website rebuild or digital marketing support. Its websites and mobile apps service may be relevant for an independent store that needs a clearer product catalogue. A cheaper option may be better if the business has a small range: update the listings internally, use existing marketplace tools and measure the result before paying for specialist work.
The next step for most UAE sellers is not to buy Spangle AI Discovery. It is to audit a small, profitable product range across the website and marketplaces, then fix the information that a shopper or assistant would need to make a confident choice. If the catalogue needs structural work, start with the UAE ecommerce launch service and define the product-data scope before committing.
