Barracuda’s new AI Data Security product is aimed at smaller organisations. Here is what it does, what it changes for UAE businesses and when a simpler approach is enough.

Barracuda has launched AI Data Security for smaller organisations and managed service providers. It is designed to show how staff use generative AI, inspect prompts and uploads, block sensitive information, enforce rules and produce evidence for audits. The product is announced for October 2026, so a UAE owner can assess it now but should not treat it as an available tool until Barracuda confirms access. (barracuda.com)
The practical change is not that every small company suddenly needs another security platform. It is that AI use can move from informal staff behaviour to something the business can see and control.
The real risk is not using AI. It is allowing sensitive business information into AI tools without knowing who did it or what happened next.

Barracuda says the product covers more than 1,300 generative AI tools, including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Gemini. It is built on the BarracudaONE platform and combines AI visibility, data protection, threat detection and governance in one experience.
The controls are aimed at common small-business problems. The system can block customer data, passwords, financial records and proprietary code from reaching generative AI services. It can also detect prompt injection, jailbreak attempts, hate speech and other policy-violating topics. Barracuda says every AI interaction can be captured in an audit trail, with one-click exports for insurers and auditors. (barracuda.com)
Barracuda also says the product uses prebuilt sensitive-data detection, familiar firewall-style workflows and guided configuration through its Bailey AI assistant. Its stated aim is protection without requiring a specialist AI security team.
For a UAE business, that may be useful if several employees already use different AI tools, if customer or payment information is handled through prompts, or if the company needs a clear record of what AI use is allowed.
The first change is visibility. An owner may discover that staff are using AI for sales replies, recruitment, customer support, document summaries or code without a shared rulebook. That does not automatically mean the use is wrong. It does mean the business should know what information is being supplied and which tools are involved.
The second change is policy enforcement. A written instruction saying “do not upload confidential information” is useful, but it depends on staff remembering it. Barracuda’s approach is to inspect prompts and uploads in real time and apply rules to teams, tools and data types.
The third change is evidence. If a customer, insurer, auditor or internal manager asks how AI is controlled, an activity record is more useful than a policy document that nobody can test.
This is separate from choosing where the business stores its operational data. If staff use AI to summarise sales, stock or finance information, the underlying workflow still needs sensible access controls and reliable records. That is where an ERP and automation setup may help, but it is not a replacement for a dedicated AI security product.
Do these steps before considering a purchase:
A small consultancy with three employees, no customer records in prompts and one approved AI tool may not need Barracuda AI Data Security immediately. A growing retailer, clinic, agency or software business with several users and sensitive records has a stronger reason to investigate it.
The sensible first move is a short AI-use audit. Record the tools, users, data types and business purpose. Then compare the cost and administrative effort of a dedicated control layer with a simpler combination of approved accounts, access restrictions, staff training and manual review. Barracuda’s announcement does not publish a UAE price, so any buying decision should be based on a formal quote and the number of users, tools and controls required.
For teams already changing how they work with AI, our earlier guide to Salesforce AIforce for UAE CRM teams offers useful context on where AI may enter everyday business processes.
Paknology does not sell Barracuda AI Data Security or provide a dedicated cyber-security service. Its commercial interest is limited to adjacent work such as websites, ERP and automation, where a business may need cleaner systems and workflows around its AI policy. If a cheaper or simpler approach is sufficient, use approved tools, restrict sensitive inputs, document the rules and review usage before buying another platform.
A UAE owner should start by mapping AI use and sensitive data, then ask whether the business needs enforcement or only governance. If the answer involves redesigning an operational workflow rather than buying security software, talk to us about the relevant website or automation work.
