Mews POS in North America: Why UAE Hotels Should Wait

UAE hotel operators should benchmark this development now, but the honest answer is not yet when it comes to changing systems. Mews POS is now live in the United States and Canada, not the UAE, and the announcement does not set out local availability, implementation, pricing or compliance detail. The useful lesson is the operating model: one connected system for property management, food and beverage, payments and guest information. (mews.com)
Mews announced the North American launch on 1 September 2026. The company says its POS was introduced in 2024 and is already live in more than 20 countries across Europe and the Asia-Pacific region. The North American release extends its attempt to cover more hotel operations through one platform rather than several disconnected tools. (mews.com)
The important change is not another restaurant till. It is the removal of hand-offs between the front desk, F&B and finance.

The product is designed for hotel restaurants, counter service, bars, grab-and-go retail and breakfast operations. Guest profiles can appear directly in the POS, so staff can see information such as preferences or VIP status before taking an order. Food and beverage charges can post directly to the guest bill, while receipts can be accessed in the PMS through a URL. (mews.com)
The finance benefit is just as significant. Mews says reconciliation happens automatically, without manual matching at the end of a shift or separate reports that staff must consolidate. Its announcement also describes a Meiser Hotels example in which manual reconciliation was reduced to zero, saving two hours per day per property. That is a supplier-reported case study, not a guaranteed result for every hotel.
This is the benchmark UAE groups should use. Ask whether a proposed POS can post room charges reliably, keep guest and transaction records aligned, provide one view at checkout and reduce the work needed to match POS, PMS and accounting reports.
The launch strengthens the case for treating hotel POS as part of the core operating stack, rather than as a standalone restaurant tool. Mews describes its platform as covering PMS, POS, revenue management, housekeeping and payments. Its POS product page presents a single guest folio where charges from rooms, restaurants, bars and retail can be brought together. (mews.com)
That approach matters most where a property has several outlets and a high volume of room charging. Every manual transfer creates another point where an order, guest account or payment record can fail to match. An integrated design does not remove the need for controls, training or review. It can, however, reduce the number of systems that staff must keep in agreement.
For UAE operators, the practical question is not whether one vendor has a compelling launch story. It is whether the system fits the property’s existing PMS, payment setup, accounting workflow, outlet structure and local operating requirements. A connected platform that cannot support those details is not genuinely integrated for that hotel.
Act now on evaluation, not procurement. Build a short requirements list covering room charging, split bills, refunds, offline operation, outlet reporting, permissions, audit trails, guest data, payment settlement and integration with the hotel’s existing systems. Then ask vendors to demonstrate the complete process from order to folio to reconciliation.
Do not treat North American availability as proof of UAE readiness. Mews’ own product page says its POS is available across the United States and Canada except Quebec, while the launch announcement focuses on the US and Canada. Neither page confirms that the same product, payment arrangement or support model is available for UAE properties. (mews.com)
If your hotel is already losing time to manual bill posting or end-of-day matching, review the workflow now and record where the failures occur. A restaurant POS review may help if the immediate issue is outlet control. If the wider problem is disconnected finance and operations data, an ERP and automation review may be the better starting point.
Paknology has a commercial interest in helping UAE businesses with restaurant POS and ERP and automation projects. That does not make a Mews rollout automatically right for every hotel. A cheaper or simpler POS may serve a small independent restaurant better, especially where there is no PMS, limited room charging and little need for multi-outlet reconciliation.
The next step is to document your current order, posting and reconciliation process, then compare it with the functions demonstrated by Mews and other suitable systems. If you need a UAE restaurant POS assessment, see what a restaurant POS in Dubai should be able to do before choosing a platform.
